“I am confident that the government will be able to persuade the National Assembly to adopt the first euro budget for 2026,” said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov at the opening of a conference “Dialogue on Defense and Democracy: Fortifying Freedom” in Sofia. The event was organized by the Center for the Study of Democracy.

The Council of Ministers has not yet submitted the draft budget for next year to Parliament. Last week, a meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation did not take place after employers’ organizations refused to participate, expressing opposition to the parameters of the draft budget.

The budgetary procedure cannot be blocked, as this is an autonomous right of the government and the National Assembly, said Rosen Zhelyazkov on Monday.
