After a meeting in Brussels with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, Serbian National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic said that her country is ready to open Cluster 3 (competitiveness and inclusive growth) in the accession negotiations with the EU, the Politika daily reported Friday. "This was the main topic of my meeting with Kaja Kallas," Brnabic explained.
According to Brnabic, the country fulfilled the requirements of Cluster 3 back in December 2021, and the latest European Commission report on Serbia's progress to EU accession confirms for the fifth time the recommendation to Member States to vote for the opening of the cluster.
The Serbian Parliament Speaker wrote about the meeting on Instagram: "We had good discussions about Serbia’s European path. We will continue our joint work on reforms that will benefit our citizens. Serbia’s strategic foreign policy goal remains EU membership, and we will work toward that even more strongly than before."
Speaking to reporters in Brussels, Brnabic stressed that it was important that Parliament had adopted amendments to the law on the single electoral register, which, as she pointed out, implemented the most complex and important recommendation for further improving electoral conditions.
"I hope that soon, in cooperation with civil society and the opposition, we will form a commission to verify, analyze, and revise the electoral register," Brnabic said, as quoted by Politika.
