Bulgarian Parliament Leader Meets Chairman of the Chinese People'sPolitical Consultative Conference

Beijing, June 29 (BTA) - Bulgarian Parliament leader Tsetska Tsacheva met Wednesday with Yu Zhengsheng, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said the National Assembly press office. Tsacheva is on an official visit to China until July 1 at the head of a Bulgarian parliamentary delegation.

Tsacheva spoke about the potential for expansion of bilateral business contacts. She said that Bulgaria has developed agricultural production and makes food that can sell well on the Chinese market. She expressed hope that a memorandum will soon be signed by the two Agriculture Ministers to streanline the procedures for export of Bulgarian food to China.

Yu Zhengsheng agreed that there are prospects for enhancing cooperation in agriculture - as well as in transport infrastructure. He stressed the positive trend in bilateral relations.

Tsacheva added that the two countries have no open issues and have had diplomatic relations for 67 years now, which is a strong groundwork to be used by the present statesmen and politicians to build on.

Among the spheres where Bulgaria is interested in developing joint projects with China, she singled out infrastructure, transport, the energy sector, research, culture, education and innovations. She also sees fine prerequisites for increasing the tourist exchange. Last year saw a 11 per cent increase of Chinese tourists to Bulgaria, she added.

Yu Zhengsheng believes that the number of Chinese tourists to Bulgaria can increase at least 10 times.

Last year over 100 million Chinese tourists travelled to overseas destinations.
