Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Director General Kiril Valchev and Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau (ANP) CEO Martijn Bennis signed an agreement between the two national news agencies in Toronto during the 35th conference of MINDS International Media Innovation Network. Bennis is currently Chair of the Board of MINDS International, an association of 25 leading news agencies from around the world for cooperation in information services.

Under the agreement, the first one between the national news agencies of Bulgaria and the Netherlands, they give each other rights to access and publish news feeds.

"More directly exchanged news between the national news agencies of the Netherlands and Bulgaria will help us to know each other better. People's fears of each other diminish and trust grows when they know each other better.  In this particular moment, it may also prove useful for the two countries to be together sooner without obstacles to freedom of movement in the Schengen area of the European Union," Kiril Valchev said.

BTA joined MINDS International at its 32nd conference in Helsinki in April 2022.

ANP is the largest news agency in the Netherlands. It was founded on December 11, 1934 by the Dutch Newspapers Publishers' Association.
