More than 200 participants from Bulgarian communities in Moldova, Ukraine, and Romania will take part in the international youth folk festival, which will be held from August 1 to 3in the town of Byala, Ruse region, Byala Mayor Dimitar Slavov told BTA.
He said that various youth dance and singing groups from Bulgaria will also take part in the event. One of the highlights of the festival will be the participation of the Bulgare National Folklore Ensemble.
For three days, participants will perform on stage near the Kolyu Ficheto Bridge. “I am pleased that we are organizing a significant event that goes beyond the scope of a municipality like Byala. We hope that this festival will become a wonderful celebration of folklore, Bulgarian culture, and youth,” Slavov said.
He noted that around 50 participants will arrive from the Moldovan city of Tvardita alone, including the Tvardita Fortress dance group and the Bessarabian Motifs from Tvardita children's folk instrument orchestra. The Moldovan city of Taraclia will be represented by the Talisman dance group and the Taraclia Square formation. The village of Valea Perjei, which was twinned with Byala in 2024, will participate with the Rosna Kitka dance formation and Rodolyubets the choir.
The Mayor also said that the Bulgarian ensemble Bulgare will greet the participants with a concert scheduled for the second day of the festival.
“We want to show our international guests that we have not forgotten Bulgarian folk music,” Slavov added.
The festival programme also includes a 3D mapping projection on the authentic part of the Kolyu Ficheto Bridge, an initiative organized by the Municipality every Saturday.
