Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel is on a working visit to New York, where she will take part in the general debate of the 78th UN General Assembly session and side events.

On September 18, Gabriel will participate in the opening of the Sustainable Development Goals Summit.

She will address the ministerial meeting on the role of artificial intelligence in accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Bulgarian Foreign Minister will also participate in a meeting with her EU counterparts.

On September 19, Gabriel will participate in the opening of the General Debate of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.

The Deputy Prime Minister's programme includes a number of bilateral meetings: a bilateral meeting on behalf of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chile, Alberto van Klaveren.  

Mariya Gabriel will also take part in the ministerial round table on the need to amend the Rome Statute, as well as in a quadrilateral meeting at foreign minister level between Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Croatia. Topics to be discussed include the Three Seas Initiative, regional and economic cooperation.

On September 20, Gabriel will take part in the UN Security Council meeting (open debate) on upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter through effective multilateralism. 

On September 21, the Deputy Prime Minister will take part in in the preparatory ministerial meeting for the Summit of the Future, as well as a meeting with the UN Secretary-General , together with President Rumen Radev.

The Deputy Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell and UN Under-Secretary-General and UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous. 

On September 22, the Deputy Prime Minister will take part in a ministerial meeting of the Peacebuilding Commission.
