Balgarska Roza Dance Ensemble from Palma de Mallorca, Spain, will take part in the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival, which will take place in Munich from May 15 to 17, the ensemble’s leader and chair of the Rosa de Bulgaria association Tsvyatko Krastev told BTA.

Krastev said the ensemble will participate as part of the combined formation Bulgarian Rose Around the World, bringing together groups named "Bulgarian Rose" from several countries.

"For this year’s edition we are preparing the production ‘Songs, Dances and Flirtations at the Gathering with the Bulgarian Roses’, inspired by the festival’s theme ‘Libe le, libe hubavo’," he said.

According to Krastev, the joint project includes ensembles from Palma de Mallorca, Nice, Malaga, Munich and Koblenz, as well as dancers from other Bulgarian folklore groups abroad.

The production combines live singing, folk dances and theatrical elements recreating a traditional Bulgarian gathering, he added.

"Our message is that the Bulgarian spirit will endure because it is deeply rooted in its rich cultural heritage," Krastev said.

He noted that preparations include regular online rehearsals between the participating groups.

The ensemble from Palma de Mallorca was founded in 2011 as a beginner folk dance group and later developed into a stage ensemble with performances in Spain and abroad.

Krastev said the group currently includes dancers aged between 12 and over 70, as well as an active children’s dance section.

The travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
