The Stariyat Chinar (The Old Platanus Tree) folklore ensemble from Barcelona, Spain, will perform Severnyashki Tanc (Northern Dance) at the traveling gathering “Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Hands,” the eleventh edition of which will be held from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich, Germany.

Siyana Danova, the ensemble's leader and choreographer, pointed out that the ensemble is all-female, and this influenced the choice and interpretation of the dance. "As an all-female ensemble, we chose to transform the dance, turning it into a story about friendship, support and the relationship between women, such as mothers, girlfriends, like-minded women overall", she emphasized, adding that on stage, they are not just dancers, but partners, connected by trust and shared rhythm.

“Our message is about the power of the female community and about that quiet but sustainable connection that brings harmony and cohesion. Through emotion and movement, folklore comes to life and becomes a bridge between tradition and modernity”, Danova noted.

The travelling festival Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
