site.btaUK-Based Zhar Folk Dance Group, Balgarski Zavet Male Choir to Participate Together in Munich

The London-based Zhar Folk Dance Group will participate together with the Balgarski Zavet male choir at the 11th Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling Bulgarian folklore festival, which will take place from May 15 to 17 at BMW Park in Munich.

Krasimira Karaboycheva, choreographer and leader of the Zhar dance group, noted that the partnership between the ensemble and the choir will be transferred to the stage to the sound of rhythms from the Pirin region. "We chose the Pirin folklore region because there love is quiet and peaceful. It is not said in words, it is played. (...) In Pirin, love begins with a horo," she said.

Participation on the stage of great festivals makes the dancers feel special, said Karaboycheva, adding that now the dancers are looking forward to the Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance festival, as they already many friends with whom they exchange dance experience. "We have created our own little Bulgaria in big London", she noted.

Karaboycheva also announced that on June 7, the Zhar Folk Dance Group will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a solo concert. "We invite everyone who loves Bulgarian folklore to immerse themselves in our fairy tale together", she said.

The Expats Join Hands in Worldwide Dance travelling festival is organized by and for amateur folklore ensembles performing outside Bulgaria. The initiative was launched by the Ot Izvora group in Lyon, France, which hosted both the first edition in 2015 and the tenth edition in 2025. More than 100 dance ensembles and over 4,000 guests are expected at the 11th edition in Munich in May. The Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) is the official media partner of the event and will present all participants.
