site.btaEC Supports Possible Purchase by Ukraine of Nuclear Reactors from Bulgaria with EU Funding
The European Commission Thursday said it would be possible for Ukraine to buy nuclear reactors from Bulgaria with EU funding. There is no obstacle to this, a European Commission spokesperson said, adding that these are bilateral matters between Bulgaria and Ukraine.
Such a move would help to strengthen Ukraine's economy, the spokesperson added.
The EU provides Ukraine with EUR 1.5 billion per month this year. This aid is aimed at supporting the work of the Ukrainian state and its spending is left to Kyiv's discretion. There is no obstacle for Ukraine to use part of the aid package for nuclear energy cooperation with Bulgaria, the spokesperson said.
