Sofia hosted the Balkan Diving Championships and the 13th edition of the Sofia Diving Cup international tournament at the Diana Swimming Complex.
The competitions brought together 158 athletes from 15 countries. The tournament is part of the programme of the Sofia - European Capital of Sport Foundation, further cementing its position among the most prestigious diving events not only in the Balkans but also in Southeast Europe.
Bulgaria's national team delivered a strong performance at the Balkan Championships, finishing third in the overall team standings.
Kris Yordanov was crowned the overall Balkan champion after winning three gold medals in the boys' 12-13 age group. Iva Ereminova claimed two gold and one silver medal in the senior girls' events, while Yoan Yanev won two bronze medals in the senior boys' competitions.
Bulgarian divers also performed strongly at the Sofia Diving Cup. Ereminova won two gold and one silver medal, Yordanov claimed three gold medals, Yanev earned one silver and two bronze medals, Andrea Petrova won two bronze medals, Toma Kaymakanov took one gold and one bronze medal, Konstantin Minchev collected one gold, one silver and one bronze medal, while Tsvetomir Ereminov won gold in the platform event.
The performances of the Bulgarian divers confirmed the national programme's continued progress, while the high standard of organization and strong international competition turned Sofia into the centre of Balkan diving for four days.
