One person was injured and some 29,000 households were left without electricity following a massive overnight drone attack on the Odesa region, Oleh Kiper, Head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, said on Telegram on Sunday.
According to Kiper, the strikes hit hardest in the Black Sea port city of Chornomorsk and its surroundings, damaging energy infrastructure and cutting off power to tens of thousands of subscribers. He noted that repair efforts were already underway, with critical infrastructure supplied through backup generators.
In Chornomorsk, the attack also caused damage to private homes and administrative buildings, while several fires broke out but were quickly extinguished, Kiper added.
Bulgarians in the Odesa region number more than 150,000 and were the third largest population group in Ukraine in 2001, according to the official census. About 50,000 - 60,000 Bulgarians live in the city of Odesa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolhrad, Izmail and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi districts.
