Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev will be on a one-day working visit to the United Kingdom Monday at the invitation of his British counterpart David Lammy, his Ministry said.
He is scheduled to hold working meetings with Karen Pierce, the UK’s Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, as well as with members of the newly formed Parliamentary Friendship Group with Bulgaria in the British Parliament.
Diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and the United Kingdom were established on July 23, 1879. The two countries maintain an active political dialogue, and cooperation is particularly dynamic in the areas of foreign policy, economy, security, combating illegal migration, border protection, cybersecurity, counter-terrorism and hybrid threats, as well as military defenxe cooperation. Unofficial estimates suggest that the Bulgarian community in the United Kingdom numbers over 400,000.
