A Vazrazhdane delegation consisting of: MPs Zlatan Zlatanov, Chair of the friendship group with Iran, Dimcho Dimchev and their Iranian colleague Mihail Atanasov, arrived on a visit to the Islamic Republic at the invitation of its Parliament.

The three days of the official visit on the occasion of the seventh edition of Iranexpo were extremely intense and filled with working meetings in Tehran and the province. On the first day, the Bulgarian delegation participated in the opening of the economic exhibition, which presented products only from Iranian manufacturers in the food, chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, automotive and oil industries, manufacturers of agricultural and lifting equipment, and ended with a presentation of mining and nuclear power generation. At the end of the day, the delegation took part in a discussion between Bulgarian industrialists and representatives of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture, which concluded in a signed Memorandum of Cooperation.

On the second day of the delegation's visit, the delegation visited the city of Zanjan, 300 km. from Tehran, located near the Caspian Sea. There, the Bulgarians were welcomed by Mayor Soltani Mohammadi, Samad Yousefi Asl and Bahman Samsami from the Zanjan Chamber of Commerce, and Mrs. Muradhani, Deputy Regional Governor and Director of the Regional Department of Economics.

On the third day of the visit, the delegation was welcomed at the Iranian Foreign Ministry, where it held a meeting with Mahmoud Heidari, Director General of the Mediterranean and Eastern Europe Department with the rank of Deputy Minister, and then, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Bulgarian-Iranian Friendship Group Abbas Moqtada'i-Khorasgani, they visited the new building of the Iranian Parliament, followed bya tribute to the tomb of the unknown soldier.

During the talks, the participants noted that Bulgarian-Iranian economic relations in 1989 generated a turnover of USD 3.5 billion (or USD 35 billion today), and at the present time the same is dozens of times less, which is a loss for both sides.
