Kevin Penev won a silver medal in Saturday's floor exercise final during the closing event of the FIG World Challenge Cup Series in Artistic Gymnastics, held in Szombathely, Hungary.
The Bulgarian delivered a solid routine, which earned him a score of 13.600 points from the judges.
The gold medal went to Dmitry Patanin of Kazakhstan, who scored 13.900 points, while the bronze was claimed by Artem Dolgopyat of Israel, the Tokyo 2021 Olympic champion and Paris 2024 silver medallist, who received 13.200 points.
In the women’s competition, Bulgaria's Valentina Georgieva finished fifth in the vault final. The two-time European silver medallist and fifth-place finisher at the Paris 2024 Olympics earned a total of 12.650 points — 13.100 for her first vault and 12.200 for her second — which were not enough to reach the podium.
The competition continues on Sunday, with Eddie Penev set to compete in the men’s vault final, having qualified with the fifth-highest score in the preliminaries.
