The 2025 edition of the Shumen Plateau multisport race will take place June 29 with cycling, trial run and duathlon events. The race is being organized by the Ilchov Bair cycling club in partnership with the Shumen Town Hall, the Northeastern State Forestry Company, the Shumen Plateau Nature Park and support from businesses, said the organizers of the cycling club.

The events on the programme are 23 km mountain biking (only for under-18 entrants); 36 km mountain biking; 43 km mountain biking with electric bikes; 10 km trial run and 21 km trial run; and duathlon (36 km cycling + 10 km run).

For safety considerations, the route for the cycling and running events will be totally different. 

Volunteers stationed at several spots along the routes will provide food, water, and energy drinks to participants.

A total of 241 entrants have registered for Shumen Plateau 2025, including 24 for the duathlon and 11 for the electric bicycle race, which are unprecedented figures for the competition. Traditionally, the most popular event is the short cycling event (36 km), which has attracted 70 entrants. 

Romanian competitors have also registered.

The competition has a prize purse of BGN 8,200 in the form of vouchers for sport goods.
