In the third quarter of 2025, the number of newly registered and bankrupt companies in Bulgaria increased by 0.1% each, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a press release on Friday.
A total of 11,545 new legal entities were registered during the period, while 1,015 entered bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings, including those declared insolvent. Compared to the same quarter of 2024, both figures rose by 0.1%.
In the previous quarter of 2025, there were 12,479 new registrations and 1,174 insolvency cases. Year-on-year, new registrations rose by 9.2%, and bankruptcies by 14.4%.
For the first quarter of 2025, the NSI reported 12,207 new companies and 1,091 bankruptcies. Compared to the same period of 2024, new registrations decreased by 0.2%, while the number of bankruptcies increased by 10%.
