site.btaTrips Abroad by Bulgarians Up 19.4% in August Y/Y, Foreign Visits to Bulgaria Also Rise

In August 2025, trips abroad by Bulgarian citizens totalled 1,078,900, an increase of 19.4% compared with August 2024, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) reported here on Monday. Growth was registered across all observed travel purposes.

Visits to Bulgaria by foreign nationals in August 2025 numbered 2,269,900, up 6.3% compared to the same month of the previous year.

NSI data show that in August 2024, trips abroad by Bulgarians stood at 903,400, an 8.3% increase compared with August 2023, while visits to Bulgaria by foreigners amounted to 2,135,700, up 2.8% year-on-year.

In August 2025, the largest numbers of trips abroad by Bulgarians were to Greece (314,800), Turkiye (286,700) and Romania (77,900). The most visits to Bulgaria were made by citizens of Romania (423,800), Turkiye (335,800) and Germany (264,900).
