Producer Prices in Industry Up by 8.6% in July Y/Y

The Total Producer Price Index went up by 8.6% in July 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, the National Statistical Institute said on Friday. A rise was observed in the mining and quarrying industry - by 24.5%, in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply - by 21.0%, as well as in the manufacturing industry - by 7.8%.

By comparison, the total producer price index in July 2024 was 1.4% higher than in the same month of 2023.

Producer price indices measure the average change in the prices of industrial products produced and sold by Bulgarian enterprises. They can be considered an early indicator of inflation.

In the manufacturing, the prices rose in the manufacture of food products - by 20.0%, in the manufacture of basic metals - by 14.1%, and in the manufacture of beverages - by 13.3%. Price reduction was registered in the manufacture of tobacco products - by 16.5%, and in the manufacture of furniture - by 12.8%.

The Total Producer Price Index in Industry rose by 3.4% in July 2025 compared to the previous month. An increase of 12.9% was registered in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, in the mining and quarrying industry - by 5.2%, and in the manufacturing industry - by 0.1%.

Higher prices in the manufacturing industry were registered in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers - by 2.1%, in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products - by 1.1%, in the printing and reproduction of recorded media - by 0.7%. A decrease was seen in the manufacture of basic metals - by 1.5%, in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials - by 0.7%.
