Loans for house purchases in Bulgaria continued to grow at an accelerated pace, reaching BGN 29.599 billion at the end of July 2025, up 27.4% annually (compared to a 26.8% year-on-year growth in June 2025), the Bulgarian National Bank reported on Monday. On an annual basis, they increased by 27.4%, compared to 26.8% annual growth in June. A year earlier, in July 2024, these loans stood at BGN 23.232 billion, or more than BGN 6 billion below the current mark.
Consumer loans amounted to BGN 20.484 billion, rising by 13.6% from July 2024 (down from 14% annual growth in June 2025).
Loans to households and non-profit institutions serving households totalled BGN 52.000 billion (23.7% of GDP) at the end of July 2025, increasing by 20.9% from July 2024 (down from 20.8% annual growth in June 2025).
In July 2025, loans to non-financial corporations increased by 8.6%, year on year (8.8% annual growth in June 2025) and at the end of the month amounted to BGN 50.444 billion (23% of GDP).
Loans granted to financial corporations were BGN 8.999 billion at the end of July 2025 (4.1% of GDP). Compared to July 2024, they increased by 12% (11.7% annual growth in June 2025).
At the end of July 2025, claims on loans to the non-government sector amounted to BGN 111.443 billion (50.7% of GDP), up from BGN 110.142 billion (50.2% of GDP) at the end of June 2025. They increased annually by 14.3% in July 2025 (14.3% annual growth in June 2025).
