site.btaBulgaria to Restrict Heavy Truck Traffic in Heatwave Zones
On Saturday, July 26, and Sunday, July 27, in the afternoon, traffic for trucks over 20 tons will be temporarily restricted in Vidin, Pleven, Veliko Tarnovo, Stara Zagora, Ruse, Razgrad, Shumen, and Targovishte regions, due to expected high temperatures, the Road Infrastructure Agency (RIA) said on Thursday.
The temporary suspension will apply only to specific sections of Class I, II, and III roads, and not to highways and expressways.
In case temperatures exceed 38°C and an orange weather warning is issued by meteorologists, heavy trucks will be required to wait off the roadway in designated areas.
The measure does not apply to trucks transporting perishable goods, temperature-controlled cargo, live animals, hazardous materials, or specialized vehicles for carcass disposal.
The purpose of the restriction is to minimize the risk of road surface deformation due to extreme heat and to protect the health and safety of all road users.
