“The development of industrial zones and the construction of the necessary infrastructure are among our main priorities. This is the key to attracting new high-tech investments in Bulgaria”, Deputy Economy Minister Nevena Lazarova said at the opening of a forum at which the National Company of Industrial Zones EAD presented a project for a Regional Centre for Digital Solutions and Innovations. The centre will be built on the territory of the Sofia-Bozhurishte Industrial Park.

Lazarova said that there is an opportunity not only to expand and modernize the existing industrial zones, but also to create new clusters in strategically important regions for the country. In her words, this will increase Bulgaria's economic potential for integration into the global economy of the future. “The Ministry of Economy and Industry, together with the National Company Industrial Zones, are working to attract investment by providing the necessary conditions for the rapid and efficient implementation of projects. I believe that sustainable economic growth based on innovation and investment in industrial zones is a fully achievable goal," the Deputy Minister said.

She said that the project for the construction of a Regional Centre for Digital Solutions and Innovations in the Sofia-Bozhurishte Industrial Park is part of the Ministry's long-term vision for the modernization of the industrial environment in Bulgaria. “Our goal is to build an innovative digital infrastructure to serve both investors in the park and future entrepreneurs, scientists and researchers,” Lazarova said. She said that the project will be implemented within 36 months and aims to support the digital transformation of businesses. It will increase the technological potential of industrial enterprises, as well as facilitate the introduction of innovations into real work processes.

In an effort to improve Bulgaria's competitiveness, the National Company Industrial Zones will work for the development of industrial parks in other regions, which have traditionally had lower investment activity, assured the Deputy Minister.

She said that particular emphasis is being placed on making these zones attractive to high-tech and innovative sectors related to digitalization and renewable energy. "I am convinced that Bulgaria has all the necessary conditions to establish itself as a technological hub, a leader in the industries of the future. Our country has the potential to attract strategic investors to help us achieve our ambitious vision of economic development and technological leadership," Lazarova said.

She said that advanced negotiations are underway with investors who intend to locate in the industrial zones in sectors such as automotive, pharmaceuticals, high-tech manufacturing, equipment and others.
