According to preliminary data released by the National Statistical Institute on Friday, GDP per person employed increased in real terms by 1.5% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same quarter of the previous year.

There were 3,474,600 people employed who worked a total of 1.4303 billion hours. Compared with the first quarter of 2024, the structure of employment by economic sector in the first quarter of 2025 shows an increase in the relative share of the Service sector and decrease in the Agriculture and Industrial sectors.

The GDP per person employed is BGN 13,128.90 per year, and GDP per hour worked is BGN 31.90.

Gross value added (GVA) per person employed in the first quarter of 2025 increased by 1.2% compared to the first quarter of 2024. The GVA per hour worked increased in real terms by 2.5%.

The GVA per person employed in the Service sector was BGN 12,017.20, and GVA per hour worked was 28.30 BGN in the first quarter of 2025. In the Industrial sector, an average GVA of BGN 12,142.90 per year was produced by person employed or an average of BGN 28.30 per hour worked. The lowest labour productivity was in the Agricultural sector at BGN 4.10 per hour worked.
