With snap parliamentary elections expected in late April, the National Assembly must extend the current state budget, said MP Hasan Ademov of the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms on Thursday. He said the state’s public finances must be guaranteed in accordance with the procedures set out in the Public Finance Act. According to Ademov, the initiative should come from the Council of Ministers, which is empowered by the Public Finance Act to propose such legislation.

Ademov clarified that the extension of the 2025 budget would be for a period of three months. The deadline for extending the 2025 budget, as agreed by the National Assembly, expires at the end of March, he added.

“I do not believe that such a decision can be postponed, as the functioning of the state as a whole depends on it. I am confident that a sufficiently solid majority will be found to support this type of decision,” he concluded.
