An exhibition tracing the history of Bulgaria's national anthems from the Liberation from Ottoman rule in 1878 will be staged near the Monument of Freedom on Mt Shipka. The exhibition will open on August 30 during the national commemoration of the 148th anniversary of the Battle of Shipka Pass.
The event titled "The Long Road of the National Anthem" was announced by its author, curator Denitsa Rahneva from the Shipka-Buzludzha National Park-Museum.
The display features 16 panels showcasing photographs, documents, lyrics, musical scores, postcards and other materials which trace the evolution of Bulgaria's national anthems. The exhibition includes bulletins from the archives of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA), highlighting significant events linked to this history.
Visitors will also be able to view the exhibition on September 8, marking the 61st anniversary of the official adoption of Mila Rodino (Dear Motherland) as the national anthem of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rahneva added.
The materials for the display were provided by BTA, the history museums in Svishtov and Panagyurishte, the State Archives Agency, the St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library, the National Art Gallery in Sofia, the Petko Staynov Foundation and private collectors.
The national commemoration of the 148th anniversary of the Battle of Shipka Pass, culminating on August 30 at the Monument of Freedom, will be held under the patronage of President Rumen Radev.
