Russian violinist Kirill Troussov will perform under the baton of maestro Georgi Dimitrov in Sofia's Bulgaria Hall on October 9, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra said. The programme will feature Tchaikovsky's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D major, with Troussov playing Antonio Stradivari's Brodsky Violin (1702), a historic instrument that was used for the premiere of this concerto in 1881. The second part of the concert is devoted to Arthur Honegger's Symphony No. 3 Liturgique.
Kirill Troussov was born on March 7, 1982 in St. Petersburg, Russia. He began playing the violin at the age of four. In 1990, his family moved to
Germany, where he continued his studies at the music academies of Lubeck and Cologne. He completed his studies at the University of Music and
Theatre in Munich, with a Master of Arts degree. His mentors include Igor Oistrakh and Sir Yehudi Menuhin. He is a frequent guest on world stages such as Konzerthaus in Berlin and the Theatre des Champs-Elysees.
As artistic director of numerous festivals and competitions around the world, Troussov is not just a performer, but an inspirer, mentor and driver of the contemporary violin scene, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra said. He has collaborated with conductors Neville Mariner, Daniele Gatti, Vladimir Fedoseyev, David Stern, and has recorded for EMI, Warner and Naxos. As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with Yuri Bashmet, Gautier Capuçon, Julia Fischer, Sol Gabetta, Daniel Hope, Mischa Maisky, Julian Rachlin, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, and Yuja Wang.
