A meeting of the Council of Managers of National Antarctic Programs opened in Warsaw, Poland, on Tuesday, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute (BAI) said. The forum will run until August 9.
Bulgaria is represented at the Council's 37th annual general meeting by Prof. Christo Pimpirev, Dragomir Mateev and Kamen Nedkov from the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute, along with Captain II Rank Nikolay Danailov from the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy in Varna.
Representatives from 33 countries with polar research stations and scientific programmes in Antarctica are attending the meeting in Warsaw, BAI noted.
As part of the meeting, a symposium will be held where the Bulgarian representatives will present a plenary report outlining this country’s Antarctic programme through 2033, as well as a poster showcasing Bulgaria’s naval research vessel Sv. Sv. Kiril i Metodii, the Institute added.
