site.btaGeorgi Gospodinov's "Death and the Gardener" to Be Published in French in August

Celebrated Bulgarian author Georgi Gospodinov has announced on Facebook that his latest novel, Death and the Gardener, will be published in French this August by the renowned publishing house Gallimard. The translation is by Marie Vrinat-Nikolov, a longtime collaborator and one of the foremost translators of Bulgarian literature into French.

Death and the Gardener is Gospodinov’s fourth novel, continuing his distinctive blend of philosophical reflection, emotional depth, and poetic insight.

Gospodinov’s previous novel, Time Shelter (2020), gained international acclaim and was published in English in May 2022, translated by Angela Rodel. The following year, in May 2023, Gospodinov and Rodel received the International Booker Prize for the English edition of the novel - a historic first for a Bulgarian author.
