The Sofia Opera Wagner Festival, the most important cultural event of the 2024/2025 season at the Sofia Opera and Ballet, begins on Thursday. The festival, which has received high international acclaim, brings together audiences, music journalists and experts from all over the world - from Germany, Italy, USA, Turkiye and Spain, to the most influential publications in the world of opera.
The premiere of Tannhäuser (June 26), the ninth Wagner title in the repertoire of the theatre, directed by Plamen Kartalov and conducted by Constantin Trinks. Four evenings of the monumental cycle The Ring of the Nibelung, conducted by Evan Christ, will follow. Wagner's tetralogy has made the festival an iconic event on the world opera map, the organizers said.
The finale will be once again Tannhäuser, on July 5.
