- 1991: National Statistical Institute is set up by Statistics Act, passed by Seventh Grand National Assembly, to replace Central Statistical Department.
- 1992: Bulgaria signs UNECE Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes in Helsinki.
- 2004: 39th National Assembly ratifies the North Atlantic Treaty, signed in Washington on April 4, 1949, in force for Bulgaria from March 29, 2004.
