site.btaExhibition Shows How Urban Landscapes in Sofia Changed over 35 Years

An exhibition titled "The Last 35. Fragments of Contemporary Urban Architectural Landscapes of Sofia 1989-2024" shows how urban landscapes in Sofia have changed over the past 35 years. It can be seen at the Cinema House gallery in Sofia. The author of the project is "Ellipse Projects" with architect Lubomira Marekova as team leader.
The exhibition opened on May 17 and can be seen until May 31, architect Marekova said. It uses photos from the BTA archive.
“Fragments of different forms of visual art - photographs and visualizations from the various periods covered, provide the view of the authors on how the urban landscape of Sofia has changed over the past 35 years,” architect Marekova said.
The audience's journey consists of four main thematic parts that symbolically summarize the different moods, attitudes and behaviour of life in the city of Sofia after 1989. These four "acts" take us from the jubilation, high hopes, and newfound self-confidence in the early 1990s, through the dynamic social processes and the sense of chaos in the following decade, to the feeling of the gradual establishment of a true civil society and the confident presence of man in the city in recent years.
