Rhine River Ramblers, the United States Army Europe and Africa Band and Chorus surprised the residents of Ruse, on the Danube, with a gig in the centre of the city.
This group consists of 5 wind instrumentalists and one drummer, and performs exciting and up-beat tunes "from a special time in American history", to use the words from a presentation of the band on the US government website.
In Ruse, they played Dixieland jazz from the early 20th century. Passers-by also heard improvisations on popular Bulgarian music of the not-so-distant past.
