The 7th Sofia International Improv Fest will take place between September 25 and 29, bringing together improv masters from all across the world, the organizers, ShiZi Impro Theatre, said.

This year's theme is "Deep Dive". Participants will explore different aspects of improvisational art: fun and games, darkness, physicality, and emotions. Both established international artists and local talent will perform on the chamber stage of the Salza i Smyah Theatre.

"Sofia Improv Fest is both an inspiring and entertaining event. We will welcome the most entertaining improv artists in the world and create impressive moments on stage," the organizers said. Part of the lineup is Susan Messing, a comedian with over 38 years of experience and Northwestern University graduate, who has performed at the iO Theatre and Second City's Mainstage. She is a founding member of Annoyance Theatre in Chicago. Over the years she has held workshops around the world, her courses having inspired generations of improvisers.

The festival will also welcome actor and comedian John Lehr, who is the creator of TV series such as 10 Items or Less and Quickdraw. His portfolio includes appearances in various films and TV series, including The Sweetest Thing and Friends. He also regularly performs stand-up comedy and hosts various events across the United States.

Another star at the festival is Stacey Smith, artistic director of Boom Chicago Theater in Amsterdam. She is recognized as one of the best teachers and performers in the improv world, her improv musicals being highly acclaimed internationally.

Other special guest stars include Jules Munns, co-founder of London's Slapdash Festival, and Heather Urquhart, a performer and teacher of musical improvisational theatre whose passion for improvisation has earned her worldwide recognition.
