site.btaClassical Guitarist Jose Manuel Dapena to Perform Works by Spanish Women Composers

On the occasion of International Women's Day, Spanish guitarist Jose Manuel Dapena will give a concert entitled "The Woman and the Guitar" at the Sofia City Art Gallery on March 7, said the organizer, Instituto Cervantes.

Dapena will perform a repertoire made up only of pieces composed by Spanish women that span five centuries of history: from a work originally created in 1557 by the nun Gracia Baptista to contemporary creations. There will be musical interpretations of some of the most famous Cantigas de Amigo Galician-Portuguese, characterized by the medieval female poetic voice. 

Dapena is a classical guitar teacher at the Professional Conservatory of Santiago de Compostela.
