The Ruse State Opera orchestra is going on tour to Great Britain, the director of the cultural institute Plamen Beykov told BTA. The musicians will participate in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of Disney with large-scale concerts.

The series of concerts begins in Glasgow on May 31 (Wednesday), followed by performances in Leeds, Liverpool, London on June 4, and Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff and the International Centre in Bournemouth on 8 June, where the tour will end.

The concert programme is new and has been created specifically to celebrate Walt Disney's 100th anniversary, said Beykov, adding that the ensemble is specially constructed as a classic big Hollywood orchestra.

According to him, this concert is an attractive multimedia experience for the audience featuring legendary movie scenes projected on a huge screen and accompanied by the live performance of the orchestra.

Beykov pointed out that each of the soloists partnering with the Ruse State Opera orchestra has a strong and impressive artistic background in music and theatre. Announced for the show so far are: Bessy Ewa, Charlie Burn, Cleve September, Anton Zetterholm, Roberta Valentini, Georgina Hagen, Richard-Salvador Wolff, Tobias Joch and Masengu Kanyinda.

The Ruse Opera orchestra will recreate the scores of famous songs from films such as The Lion King, Aladdin, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, Encanto, and more. The programme also includes highlights from the worlds of Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel.

"The Ruse musicians are actively rehearsing under the baton of German conductor Wilhelm Keitel. He has an extensive operatic repertoire, numerous TV and radio recordings, his own CD label, and publications. In recent seasons his artistic preferences have been directed towards this type of concert programme, which includes the concert show Disney in Concert. At the beginning of the year, after a preliminary familiarization rehearsal, Maestro Keitel was very impressed by the potential of the orchestra, and personally chose the creative partnership with the Ruse Opera", explained Plamen Beykov.
