Bulgarian Post Stamp Becomes Part of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee Collection

A stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee will be part of the collection of the International Olympic Committee Museum, the Transport Ministry said Thursday. The issue was launched on Thursday by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Krasimir Papukchiyski, President of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee Stefka Kostadinova, President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach, Executive Director of Bulgarian Post Filip Aleksiev and Chairman of the Union of Philatelists Spas Panchev.

The project was created by the artist Dr. Iliya Gruev. The edition depicts the most outstanding personalities and achievements of Bulgaria over the years. The artist has chosen the portraits of Boris Georgiev - the first Olympic medalist, Evtim Kitanchev - the first chairman of the Bulgarian Olympic Committee, Nikola Stanchev - the first Bulgarian Olympic champion with a gold medal. The 55 Olympic gold medals, 90 silver medals and 85 bronze medals won so far by Bulgarian athletes are also included.
