Caretaker Minister of Culture Nayden Todorov met on Thursday with Indonesian Ambassador to Bulgaria Iwan Bogananta, the ministry said.

The two discussed bilateral cooperation as a prerequisite for intensifying the cultural dialogue between the two countries. Minister Todorov said that there is a good partnership between Bulgarian and Indonesian artists and Bulgaria would be happy to strengthen the dynamics in the relations between the cultural institutions of the two countries, putting special emphasis on the inclusion of young people in the process of mutual cultural understanding. In the words of Minister Todorov, there is also much to learn from Indonesia in the field of cultural tourism.

Ambassador Bogananta appreciated Bulgaria as an important friend of Indonesia. In this regard, he proposed, and the Minister accepted, to work on the renewal of the Memorandum between the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia on cooperation in the field of culture.

Ambassador Bogananta extended an invitation to Minister Todorov to be a guest of the Indonesian Festival to celebrate the beauty, diversity and vitality of Nusantara, on June 8 at 9 pm at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv. The aim of the event is to take the audience on an unforgettable journey to Nusantara, the new capital of Indonesia, through the interaction between Indonesian and Bulgarian culture.
