site.btaPM: Government Came with Clear Political Mandate - to Put End to Continuous Electoral Cycle
The Government came with a clear political mandate - to put an end to the continuous electoral cycle, the lack of policy continuity and predictability, and to give all participants in political life, economic cycles, and especially municipalities, a chance to catch their breath, said Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in his address to participants at the Annual Meeting of Local Authorities in Albena resort (on the Black Sea) on Sunday.
He stated that the Government has politically fulfilled part of the commitments made at the beginning of its term - such as ensuring financial and macroeconomic stability, meeting the convergence criteria for Bulgaria to join the eurozone on January 1, restoring access to Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) funding, and improving the management of operational programs.
"The role of local authorities in the introduction of the euro is essential and fundamental, because they are closest to the people and can most clearly and decisively dispel their fears about what lies ahead in January - fears of potential abuses, concerns about inflation, rising prices. These will be the issues that will worry society, especially during the first six months of 2026," the Prime Minister further commented.
