The first round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Bulgaria and Oman took place in Muscat on September 30, the ministry said on Wednesday.
The Bulgarian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Maria Angelieva, while the Omani delegation was headed by Sheikh Khalifa Al-Harthy, Political Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry.
During the consultations, both sides reviewed the steps taken to strengthen bilateral cooperation in specific sectors of mutual interest, which were identified during the historic visit of the Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Albusaidi to Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian side confirmed its interest in opening an embassy in the Sultanate of Oman, considering it a key prerequisite for comprehensive deepening of mutual ties.
In particular, opportunities for developing cooperation in trade, investment, education, tourism, culture, and other areas were discussed.
Topics of mutual interest were also addressed in light of recent international and regional developments.
