Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov said the failure of the motion of no confidence in the Rosen Zhelyazkov Cabinet on Thursday was not a surprise. He talked to the media after joining a demonstration in front of the Bulgarian National Bank.

"A people who choose their own executioners are not victims but accomplices," Kostadinov said, adding that failure is only to be expected when even those seeking to topple the government are divided.

Earlier in the day, the Cabinet survived the fifth no-confidence motion, this time submitted by Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria and MECh over what the MPs said was "the Cabinet's failure in the internal security and justice sectors, which has deepened the problem of a captured state". The motion was defeated in a 101-133 vote, with no abstentions.

During the rally organized by Vazrazhdane, protesters carried Bulgarian and Russian flags and called for the Government's resignation.
