The spirit of the Unification is needed more than ever, BSP - United Left said on the 140th anniversary of Bulgaria’s Unification.

“Today, 140 years later, the spirit of the Unification is needed more than ever. Today, Unification means social justice, no Bulgarian should be left behind. It means economic development – the regions must have a chance for prosperity, and young people a future here, in their homeland. It means sovereignty, decisions for Bulgaria must be made in the interest of Bulgarian citizens, not dictated from outside. It means democracy, honest politics, rule of law, and accountability of power before the people,” the parliamentary group said in a statement.

The party stressed that the Unification is an outstanding example of how political foresight, the courage of Bulgarian officers and soldiers, popular support, and the unity of progressive forces led to a historic victory. “It is a lesson that when Bulgarians act together, when we put the interests of the homeland above personal and party ones, we succeed.”

“Honor to the memory of the heroes of the Unification. Let us be worthy heirs and continue their work with courage, reason, and love for the homeland,” BSP - United Left declared on the occasion.
