Continue the Change has launched a petition against the government's sale of more than 4,400 state-owned properties. The petition takes place under the slogan: “Bulgaria is not for sale!”

August is usually a time for rest and vacation. And that was precisely the intention behind the government’s timing: while the public is distracted, Parliament passed amendments allowing the Zhelyazkov cabinet to quickly launch online auctions for the sale of over 4,400 state properties across Bulgaria.

"If there’s one word to describe this process - it’s scandal," the party says.

They point to: a scandalous list of state properties,  a scandalous parliamentary session without quorum,  and a scandalous lack of transparency and public information.

All collected signatures will be submitted to Parliament at the start of the next session, along with a proposal to ban the sale of any controversial property. In August the party will highlight some of the most controversial properties on the list.

Despite this, civic activist Boyan Yurukov has created a digital map of all the properties up for sale, reminding the state of its obligation to inform the public.
