At its regular meeting here on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers approved new rules of procedure for the Ministry of Energy. They create an optimal organizational structure for the ministry, specifying and differentiating the functions of the individual administrative units. The new organization is necessary to effectively support the Minister of Energy in the exercise of its powers, the Government Information Service reported.

Under the new rules, the ministry's specialized administration is organized into six directorates, and the general administration into three. A separate directorate, Energy Project Implementation, is being created, which will be responsible for the management and implementation of programmes and projects in the field of energy, financed from various sources.

The Ministry of Energy is responsible for the implementation of programmes and the management of funds for investments in the field of energy of significant value and strategic importance for the country. All of them are subject to time constraints for the absorption of resources and the implementation of activities, which requires the mobilisation of a large number of experts at the same time. To date, the Ministry of Energy does not have a separate directorate for these activities, and the implementation of the functions under the Modernisation Fund, the National Programme for Energy Efficiency, the European Social Fund and other programmes and projects is scattered across different directorates. To achieve the set objectives, the plan is to increase the number of staff in the Ministry of Energy by 18 positions, which will be achieved through a compensatory change by reducing the number of staff in other administrations.
