A total of 19 foreign students are studying at the Higher School of Insurance and Finance, the university told BTA on Wednesday.
The higher school emphasized that it continues to attract an increasingly wide range of international students thanks to its specialized educational programme and growing international reputation. Although foreign students represent a relatively small share compared to Bulgarian students, the interest of candidates from countries outside the European Union is constantly growing.
"We have observed a steady trend of growth in the number of foreign students in recent years, which is a result of the increased international activity of the university and targeted efforts to expand global partnerships", the higher school said, adding that there has been increased interest from foreign candidates especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, which has significantly increased after Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area as well.
The Higher School of Insurance and Finance offers majors entirely in the economic field, with programmes in Bulgarian and English. The majority of foreign applicants prefer the English-language programme Business Management and Marketing, but there are also those who already reside in Bulgaria and speak Bulgarian at a good enough level to study in programmes in Bulgarian, the higher school noted.
Although the relatively low tuition fees in Bulgaria are an attractive factor, more and more international students choose the Higher School of Insurance and Finance because of the quality of education, the relevance of the curricula and their practical focus. Teaching by proven academic and business experts, including international guest lecturers, as well as mobility opportunities, contribute significantly to the positive choice of the university.
