site.btaVelichie: Police Have Long Stopped Enforcing Law Equally for All
For many years, the police have not fulfilled their role to care for and protect the weak, to make sure that the law is the same for everyone, not to repress, said MP Ivelin Mihaylov in a statement on behalf of the parliamentary group of Velichie
In recent years, the police have been used as a truncheon and not used as intended. I personally became acquainted with this bat back in 2015. In Mihaylov's words, what is planned to be done with the police is to isolate it from society, to make it an object of hate and at some point to lose emotional connection with society, which would make it even easier to use them as a truncheon.
Raising salaries in the Interior Ministry by 50% is one of the tools that the police are being forced to keep quiet and turn a blind eye to what is happening inside, Mihaylov said. Drug traffickers, mobsters, vote-buyers, all kinds of people who repress normal people, are walking around free and the police are guarding them rather than caring to arrest them, he added.
What happened in Varna, already happened in Popovo, Targovishte, Haskovo, Veliko Tarnovo within a very short period. We can see that the society will increasingly rebel against the police and we will have a huge social discontent, the MP said, adding that the police profession will become more and more negative and hated in society.
Ivelin Mihaylov appealed to police officers to start acting on their conscience, to remain loyal to the people, not to serve money, but their country.
