“We have just signed the proposal for [National Assembly Chair Nataliya] Kiselova's resignation. There are already 33 signatures from Vazrazhdane MPs.” Another 47 are needed for it to be submitted in Parliament, the party press centre announced on Wednesday.
“It is clear that Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria will not sign it. They have long supported the government, and they also voted in support of the election of Kiselova. As for MECh and Velichie, today they refused to support the motion of no confidence on the [government’s] financial policy, which we proposed three weeks ago. The only party left is Democracy, Rights and Freedoms, with whose representatives we will talk tomorrow, but even if they sign [the proposal], the number of signatures will be 52.
And since nothing else can be expected from the mercenaries in Parliament, the day after tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at the National Palace of Culture, we will decide together how and in what way to protect ourselves as a nation in the coming days," Kostadin Kostadinov, leader of Vazrazhdane wrote on his Facebook page.
Kostadinov, whose party has been one of the staunchest opponents of the euro changeover in Bulgaria, issued earlier Wednesday a call for citizens to gather on May 16 in Sofia for what he described as a “true National Assembly” - drawing a parallel to a historic 1876 revolutionary gathering at Oborishte. The move comes a day after National Assembly Chair Nataliya Kiselova rejected as inadmissible a referendum proposal on the adoption of the euro by Bulgaria in 2026.
