site.btaHailstorm Hits Burgas and Other Parts of Bulgaria
Wind, thunder and heavy rain with hail hit Burgas, on the Black Sea. A yellow code for potentially dangerous and intense precipitation has been declared for the district.
The streets turned white during the hail storm and traffic was obstructed. Some streets were flooded. The hail lumps were some 1 cm in size.
Walnut-size hail lumps pelted the southern villages of Gornoslav and Topolovo, and a hail storm was also reported in nearby Assenovgrad, where the torrent briefly flooded key traffic intersections. There are no reports of damage to property.
In the southern cities of Kardzhali and Haskovo, the hail lumps were the size of a hazelnut. It came with a rain whose intensity was 15 l/sq m, said the hydrometeorological observatory.
