Cabinet Extends Temporary Protection of Displaced Ukrainians by One Year

The Council of Ministers adopted an amendment to their Decision No. 144 of 10 March 2022 on granting temporary protection to displaced persons from Ukraine and amending the National Action Plan for Temporary Protection in the Republic of Bulgaria, which extends the temporary protection of displaced persons from Ukraine on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria by one year, until 4 March 2024, in line with the decision of the European Commission to extend the Temporary Protection Directive.

The Cabinet also adopted a Decision amending Decision No. 642 of 4 August 2016 on the approval of the templates of registration cards to be issued by the State Agency for Refugees under the Council of Ministers, which sets a deadline for re-registration of persons displaced from Ukraine with temporary protection, in connection with the extension of the temporary protection on the territory of Bulgaria until 4 March 2024. The re-registration process will start at the beginning of February 2023 and will last until 31 March 2023.
