The Morality, Unity and Honour party (MECh) submitted documents to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to register for participation in the snap parliamentary elections scheduled for April 19, MECh Floor Leader Kiril Veselinski told journalists on Wednesday.
Veselinski said the party was registered with 6,066 signatures, while a total of 15,000 signatures had been collected.
"MECh will be a factor in the 52nd National Assembly, and I am confident there will be an anti-corruption majority not against abstract oligarchy, but against the [GERB leader Boyko] Borissov and [Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning leader Delyan] Peevski's model," Veselinski said. He added that MECh is seeking partners among all parties except GERB and the MRF.
According to Veselinski, the security of thousands of Bulgarian citizens currently in the Middle East is at risk. "There are concerns because in a war involving a state with nuclear potential, there are serious fears and uncertainty. The issue must be resolved as quickly as possible through diplomacy and reason by world leaders," he said.
He also called for the convening of a Consultative Council on National Security with all parliamentary represented parties, arguing that voters have sent their representatives to be informed and to inform the public about ongoing developments.
Veselinski further noted that MECh leader Radostin Vasilev is in Dubai and is expected to arrive in Bulgaria on Wednesday evening when a flight is available.
