Caretaker Foreign Minister Nadezhda Neynsky stated in a Bulgarian National Television interview on Wednesday that there is no immediate danger to Bulgaria but an indirect threat exists. She said that the Defence Ministry is preparing an analysis of the risks to national security and, if necessary, will propose what actions to take.

"We allowed NATO planes to land here for training activities. This was an official note from the US Embassy, which the previous government respected. NATO forces are also foreign forces," Neynsky explained in relation to the American aircraft that are in Bulgaria.

Neynsky added that since the geopolitical situation is constantly changing, it is important not to change the mandate of these aircraft and to keep them only for training activities.

"Bulgaria has not given permission for the planes, which are on our territory, to be used for military operations and our airspace is provided only for training activities. No request to change these circumstances has been received. If it is received, there will be a debate on it in the National Assembly," Neynsky added.

She also explained that Bulgarian citizens in the Middle East that are in areas of military operation, are a priority for repatriation, while those whose flights only pass through that region, are not a priority at the moment.
